Apple Unveils the iPhone 14 with a Satellite Operating System - Thefirstray News

Apple Inc. has unveiled new iPhone 14 models that can send emergency messages via satellite as well as an ultra-adventure-focused watch for activities like diving and triathlons.

The premium iPhone 14, which was unveiled on Wednesday, has the same price as the iPhone 13 models from the previous year. However, Apple no longer offers the iPhone mini, making the least expensive model $100 more expensive than last year.

Preorders for the iPhone 14 and iPhone Plus will open on September 9, and both will start at $799 and $899, respectively. The iPhone Pro will cost $999, and the iPhone Pro Max will cost $1,099. Both will be available for purchase from September 16.

According to Tom Forte, an analyst at DA Davidson, "It's interesting that they decided to essentially maintain pricing despite inflationary pressure. The decision or the strategy is that Apple believes that it can sustain margins by discontinuing a lower-priced device in the lineup".

Like Apple's iPhone Pro models, the iPhone 14 Plus will have a larger screen, but it will use the same A15 processor chip as the iPhone 13.

The outdoor-oriented products will test whether Apple's comparatively affluent customer base will continue to spend despite rising inflation.

Apple stated that its satellite, SOS, will work collaboratively with emergency responders. It also asserted that in some cases, when no other connectivity is available, users will be able to use its FindMy app to share their location via satellite.

In conjunction with the iPhone 14, the service will be free for two years. What would happen following that time period was not disclosed by Apple.

Following the announcement that it would be operating the satellites for Apple's emergency SOS service, satellite services company Globalstar Inc. saw a 20 percent increase in its stock price on Wednesday.

Globalstar said it will still need to raise additional debt to build and deploy the satellites even though Apple will cover 95% of the approved capital expenditure for the new satellites that would be required to support the service.

As a result of speculation about a partnership with Apple, the stock increased by nearly 70% from mid-June to Tuesday's close.

The Cupertino, California-based company also unveiled three new Apple Watch models, including a new Watch Ultra model intended for extreme sports and diving and built to compete with manufacturers of sports watches like Garmin and Polar.
